The objective was to create a reliable content repository and automated delivery platform that would streamline their publishing processes and improve content quality.

With over 460 electronically published journals and the recent launch of the SAGE eReference online platform, SAGE sought a powerful solution to manage and deliver its vast array of content effectively.

The RSuite Solution

SAGE chose RSuite for its scalability and advanced features, which include:

• Automated Content Ingestion and Delivery:  RSuite automates the ingestion of SAGE’s XML and binary journal content. It follows a series of business rules to ensure seamless delivery through multiple workflow routines, including to HighWire Press.
• Centralized Content Repository: The system stores XML journal content, DTDs, and non-XML files like PDFs, maintaining consistency and ensuring easy access.
• Workflow Automation:  SAGE leveraged RSuite’s action handlers to automate processes such as quality assurance, file validation, DOI confirmation, and element value verification. This significantly reduces the need for manual intervention, allowing staff to focus on content quality.
