Challenge
The California Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development (OSHPD), part of the state’s Health and Human Services Agency, needed an online training course for a new online application that would track medical data from hundreds of statewide health care facilities and their designated agents.
OSHPD chose Contiem to develop a cost-effective, easily accessible training solution that would help users learn to use the mandated data tracking system.
Solution
Contiem designed and developed an easy-to-use web-based eLearning course to meet the learning objectives required to use the new online application. Contiem, working with OSHPD personnel, developed an understanding of the application and the elements that needed to be conveyed to the intended audience. Background and conceptual information set the training context, while step-by-step instructions and screen samples guide users through the performance of specific tasks. The eLearning’s modular structure allows users the flexibility to complete all or part of the training at once or in multiple sessions and optional quizzes reinforce the key learning objectives.
Result
The eLearning course has proven to be both effective and easy to use, with thousands of healthcare workers statewide having now taken the course. The training is accessible anywhere via the web and requires no software plug-ins or additional technology to run.
Developing training materials takes expertise in multiple disciplines. Instructional design, graphics and animation, and course development are all required to develop effective courseware. Extracting the key learning objectives and concepts and understanding the needs of the target audience are the first steps in the development process. Contiem worked closely with OSHPD personnel to ensure that their objectives were met through the eLearning.
No matter the training challenges with which you are faced, Contiem can customize a solution for your target audience, identify the knowledge gaps the training program should address, and determine key learning objectives.
