Julian Murfitt serves as the Senior Managing Director, UK & Europe, at Contiem. Prior to Contiem, Julian was the CEO and co-founder of systems integration and content strategy consultants Mekon Ltd. Originally trained as a mechanical engineer, Julian worked as a solutions architect during the 1980s. Many of his clients were early adopters of desktop publishing at the leading edge of marketing material production.
In 1990, Mr. Murfitt formed Mekon to capitalize on the growing demand for technical document solutions. He leads the development of the first structured (XML) standard for Aeronautical Information Publications used in civil aviation authorities using Adobe FrameMaker.
Today Mr. Murfitt takes an active role in the S1000D and DITA community. At Contiem, he focuses on strategic management and presents at many conferences on content management and XML publishing.
